Please note that hosting departments and programs provide visitor accommodations for individual events. You are encouraged to contact your host program if you have questions about reasonable accommodations.
Parking and Transportation
Accessible parking spaces are located throughout campus for use by visitors and members of the campus community.Ìý
Students and employees with a state-issued disability placard or tag registered in their name should provide a copy of the placard and the disability registration card to Campus Police when obtaining a Ó£ÌÒÊÓƵCollege parking permit.
Physical Accessibility Resources
For information about the physical accessibility of campus, please see the Accessible Campus Maps on each building specified below. Parking and accessible doors are indicated on the maps, and restroom accessibility and elevator access on multi-floor buildings are indicated below each map.
Belk Dining Hall
Parking: There are three designated accessible parking spaces behind Belk Dining Hall with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the dining hall: If you are coming from the courtyard side of Belk Dining Hall, there is a ramp on the right side of the dining hall. If you are coming from the accessible parking area of Belk Dining Hall, there is a ramp and automatic door on the right side.
Restrooms: The women’s accessible restroom for Belk Dining Hall is located near the exterior side doors on the west side of the Belk Dining Hall. The men’s accessible restroom for Belk Dining Hall is located near the exterior side doors of the east side of Belk Dining Hall. Both bathrooms have two doors to enter the bathroom, but they are usually propped open. There are no automatic door buttons on the bathroom doors.
Wainwright Parking: There are six designated accessible parking spaces behind Belk Dining Hall with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the Wainwright suites: From the accessible parking spaces, there is a sidewalk that slopes down that takes you to a door leading you into the building with an automatic button.
Wainwright Restrooms: There is a women’s restroom and an all-gender restroom on the hallway on the left when you come in. The all-gender restroom is wheelchair accessible, and both restrooms have push doors and no automatic buttons.
Carlyle Campbell Library
The Carlyle Campbell Library provides accessible parking and a variety ofÌý.
Parking: There are ten designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 10 behind the Carlyle Campbell Library with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the library: On the front of the library there are automatic doors to the lobby and library.
Elevator: There is an elevator to the left when you walk in.
Restrooms: There are men’s and women’s restrooms are on the main floor (when you walk in), as well as an accessible, all gender restroom. The all gender restroom has a door handle push, while the women’s and men’s bathrooms have push doors.Ìý
Carswell Concert Hall, located in Wainwright Music Building
Parking:ÌýThere are two designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 18 with van access and sidewalk cutaway.
Getting to the lobby:ÌýThere is a sidewalk from the accessible parking spaces in Lot 18 that takes you inside the building; from there, go through the double doors on the right and walk down the hallway until you reach Carswell.
Elevator: There is an elevator in Wainwright. The 1st floor leads into Carswell concert hall, and the 2nd floor leads to Wainwright/Jones Auditorium.
Seating:ÌýThere are two accessible seats on both sides of the middle section on the last row.
Restrooms: The men’s and women’s restrooms are down the hallway to the left if you are facing Carswell. They are both push doors.Ìý
Cate Student Center and Park Center
Parking: There are four designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 9 with van access and sidewalk cutaways.Ìý
Getting to the building: There is a sidewalk to an automatic sliding door into Cate, then a second entrance leading into the Park Center that has automatic door buttons.
Elevator: There is an elevator straight ahead when you walk in through the front sliding doors, that leads up to the 2nd floor. There is a wheelchair elevator to the left when you walk in that leads into Kresge Auditorium.Ìý
Restrooms: The women’s restroom is located toward the back of the building in Park, near the Human Resources offices past the stairwell. The men’s is located across from the post office in Cate. They both have push doors and a wheelchair accessible stall.
There are women’s and men’s restrooms on the 2nd floor as well. Both have push doors and wheelchair accessible stalls.Ìý
Communication, Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences Building (CHESS)
Parking: There are sixteen designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 10 with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the building:ÌýThere are sliding glass doors through the main entrance to the building.
Restrooms: The women’s accessible restroom is located to the left of the lobby, and has an automatic door button. The men’s restroom is located down the left hallway facing the lobby. It is the first door on the right.
Harris Building
Parking: There are ten designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 10 with van access and sidewalk cutaways, as well as two in Lot 9.
Getting to the building: There are double doors with automatic buttons when entering the building from Lot 10, as well as on the parallel side.Ìý
Elevator: There is an elevator between the floors.Ìý
Restrooms: Turn right down the hallway when entering the building from Lot 10. An all-gender accessible restroom is located on the left, across from the elevator.
There is also accessible women’s restroom on the 1st floor with an automatic button. On the second floor there is an accessible all gender restroom with an automatic button, and a women’s bathroom with a push door.
Johnson Hall/Jo Ellen Ammons Welcome Center

Getting to the Jo Ellen Ammons Welcome Center from the Rotunda: Take the left hallway and enter into the Jo Ellen Ammons Welcome Center from the glass double doors immediately on your right. See Johnson Hall section for restrooms.
Parking: There are six designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 1 with van access and sidewalk cutaways, as well as four in Lot 18.
Getting in to Johnson Hall: Four entrances, all ramp accessible. The front and back doors are both sliding double doors, the side doors both have automatic buttons to open the doors.Ìý
Elevator: An elevator is available on the left when you walk in.
Restrooms: The women’s accessible restroom is located on the west side of the building (closest to Lux Hall) with a push door. An accessible Men’s restroom is located on the east side of the building (closest to Jones Auditorium) with a push door.
Jones Auditorium, located in Jones Hall

Parking: There are six designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 1 with van access and sidewalk cutaways, and four in Lot 18.
Getting to the lobby:ÌýThere is ramp access to an automatic door into the Jones Auditorium Lobby.
Seating:ÌýThere is reserved accessible and companion seating at mid-house in the center and on the sides.
Restrooms:ÌýThe accessible restroom for Jones Auditorium is located in the backstage hallway on the same level as the house. Ushers are available to assist.
Jones Chapel
Parking: There are six designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 1 with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the Chapel:ÌýThere are two accessible entrances on the side of the building facing Lot 1.Ìý
Restrooms:Ìý The women’s and men’s accessible restroom are located to the right of the accessible entrance.
Ledford Hall
Parking: There are two designated accessible parking spaces with van access and sidewalk cutaways on the backside of the building, as well as two on the side. There are also five designated accessible parking spots in Lot 2.Ìý
Getting to the building:ÌýThere are sidewalks leading to the main entrance with automatic double doors.
Elevator: There is an elevator.
Restrooms: There is an accessible women’s restroom on the first floor with a automatic door button and an accessible men’s restroom with a push door. On the 2nd and 3rd floors there are accessible men’s and women’s restrooms with push doors.
Lux Hall
Parking:ÌýThere are six designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 1 and twelve in Lot 10 with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the building:ÌýThere is ramp access to an automatic door into Lux Hall from the side facing Martin Hall and the Carlyle Campbell Library.
Elevator: Located near the stairs in the middle of the hallway.
Restrooms: The accessible women’s restroom is located on the first floor of the building with an automatic door button. There is also a men’s restroom on the 1st floor, and a women’s restroom on the 2nd floor.
Mae Grimmer Alumnae House
Parking: There are five designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 2 with van access and sidewalk cutaways. There are also four additional accessible spots on a side lot to the left of the building past Lot 2.Ìý
Getting to the building: There is ramp access to the front door into the building to the right of the stairs, but there is a step and a pinch button screen door.Ìý
Restrooms: There is a restroom to the right of the front door that is roomy but not fully accessible.
Martin Hall
Parking:ÌýThere are ten designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 10 with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the building:ÌýThere is ramp access to an automatic door into Martin Hall from the side facing Lux Hall and the Carlyle Campbell Library.
Elevator: There is an elevator between the two floors.
Restrooms: The accessible women’s restrooms for Martin Hall are located on the first and second floors of the building in the center of the building. Both of the women’s restrooms have an automatic door button. There are two men’s restrooms but they are not wheelchair accessible.Ìý

Parking: There are seven designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 19 with van access and sidewalk cutaways.
Getting to the field:ÌýThere is a ramp that leads to the field house.
Restrooms:ÌýThere are two restrooms in the field house.
Science and Mathematics Building (SMB)
Parking: There are eight designated accessible parking spaces with van access and sidewalk cutaways located across the building on the side of Ledford Hall, and behind Ledford Hall.
Getting to the building:ÌýThere is a crosswalk from the parking spaces leading to an automatic door.Ìý
Elevator: There is an elevator between the floors.
Restrooms: On the first floor there is a men’s restroom and an accessible women’s restroom. The women’s accessible restroom has an automatic door button, and the men’s restroom has a push door with a wheelchair accessible stall. On the second floor there is a men’s and women’s restroom, both with a push door and a wheelchair accessible stall.Ìý
Student Health and Wellness Center
Parking: There are ten designated accessible parking spaces in front of the building and in Lot 10 with van access and sidewalk cutaways, and one spot in the side parking area across from the center.
Getting to the building:ÌýThere is ramp access to an automatic door into the building from the corner of the Student Health and Wellness Center and Martin Hall.
Elevator: There is an elevator between the two floors.
Restrooms: There are two restrooms on the first floor, one near the accessible entrance and one down the hall towards Belk Dining Hall on the left. Neither are wheelchair accessible or have automatic door buttons. On the second floor, there is a wheelchair accessible all-gender restroom with a push door.Ìý
Studio Theatre, located in Jones Hall
Parking: There are six designated accessible parking spaces in Lot 1 with van access and sidewalk cutaways, and four in Lot 18.
Getting to the lobby:ÌýThere is a sidewalk from the accessible parking spaces in Lot 18 that takes you inside the building, from there, go through the double doors straight ahead, the Studio Theatre is on the left.
Seating:ÌýThere are accessible seats at the top of the theatre.
Restrooms: The women’s restroom is through the double doors to the right of the Studio Theatre and the men’s restroom is through the double doors to the left of the Studio Theatre. Neither are wheelchair accessible.
Weatherspoon Athletics Center
Parking: There are three designated accessible parking spaces with van access and a sidewalk cutaway in Lot 8 located behind the building.Ìý
Getting to the building:ÌýFrom Lot 8, there is a ramp leading to automatic doors to enter the building. From the front of the building, there are three entrances all with automatic doors.Ìý
Attending a sports game in the gymnasium: If you area attending a sports game in the Weatherspoon gym, park in Lot 10 (bottom right of image), and enter through the far left entrance.
Restrooms: There is a women’s restroom located near the back of the building, as well as a men’s restroom. Neither are wheelchair accessible, and both have push doors.
